A Web 2.0 Candidate? circa 2008...

Another has thrown their hat in the ring. I honestly thought this was the strongest candidate on the democratic side this last time around, but it will be interesting to see if John Edwards can pull away from 'the machine' and really be the one. As is normal in politics these days.... it's all if you can raise the dough. He's also the earliest one to get all Web 2.0 on us. I'm sure the rest of the candidates on both sides will be all myspaced up and facing the book once they've hired their 14 year old nephews as special advisor to the digital world.

(from Relevant Magazine)
Former Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards announced today in New Orleans that he will campaign for president. In his comments, he stressed "personal responsibility" for Americans to take action against poverty, global warming and other issues. He urged stronger governmental leadership in stopping "huge atrocities" in Northern Uganda, where he recently visited. "We said after Rwanda we'd never let anything like this happen again," he said. "Well, it's happening right now. America needs to lead"

Turkey Tucker day

Tucker was sick today on big Turkey day.... BUT... we had a blast. After watching a couple episodes of Star Wars we hit up a bit of Return of the King, and then washed it all down with Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire... at least until Harry defeats the dragon. When it hits the dancing lessons, that's when we bailed to played cards & lightsabers (normal stuff we do when the girls are out)...

Albert Pujols and My Little Brother

It could not have been a more exciting day for the Conley boys. Tucker & I showed up early to the last Cardinals home game (vs. the Brewers, who I remember in some distant strange early '80's memory.... hm) and while watching batting practice, one of the Brewers pitchers tossed Tucker a BALL!!

Shortly thereafter, my brother Jason & his son Will arrived. We had a BLAST at the game. Standing room only, so we shifted every couple innings. Sometime around the 7th inning (while we were standing just up from the press boxes) everybody within 3-4 sections was turned around backwards, watching the TVs in the press boxes to see if our pals in Atlanta would take care of the Astros. They did, and everybody went nuts.

This was not at all the last "thrill" of the day though...

In the final inning, the Cards made a push... and HRs insued. A guy named Albert decided to jack his 250th and low and behold we happened to be sitting in the section just to the right of 'Big Mac Land'.... All i could get out of my mouth was "It's comin'! It's comin'!" Everything was a blur. I was trying to get Tucker's glove on my hand (not realizing it was his) and then jumped up and the next thing I knew, my brother was going berzerk, yes, BERZERK! He had just barehanded Albert Pujols' 250th home run. WOW. Jason was pretty overcome. Long story short.... Albert wanted the ball back, it being his 250th and all. We were escorted down to the clubhouse by 5 or 6 security guards and they gave Jason a pretty sweet deal for the ball. We didn't get to meet #5, due to the clinching of the division and the boozing up in the clubhouse. And I think most days my bro will regret giving the ball back. But this day will always be a reminder to me that I have DNA very close to the Cardinals #1 fan: Jason Conley...
FYI: J was very ashamed that I wore a Sox hat to the game.

Big Pepsi Deal

Ok....
The company I work for, Cold Stone Creamery, has recently inked a deal with none other than Pepsi. Yep, the company that begun the landslide on Michael Jackson's career (and hair). The company who went from white to blue. The company who has always seemed to play catch-up.

I mean, come on, how could you get rid of the greatest drink on the planet (see pic) and expect to survive? Sheesh.

The whole morphing of this one team within the MLS (the United States division I pro league) is exciting and brings hope to the league. This team was called the Metro Stars and was one of the inaugural teams in the league.

Another site: zoeLand

zoeland.com

Well, I'm proud of how this site has turned out. This site is a youth ministry site done for one of my best mates in high school. He runs ZOE. Much of the youth ministry flowing from West County Community Church in Wildwood, MO flows into & out of ZOE. Phlip is a cool guy who loves Jesus much and I think we know how each other thinks. Part of our history.

What makes this site is not so much the design... But how Phil has taken hold of the content managment system (joomla) and used it well (and much). He updates it constantly. He makes his site work for him.... It's good.

It was a blast to get to collaborate with Phil. Way back in the day I was the youth intern at West County and it's a blast to see how things have morphed.

Don't Tread On Us

To say that I'm excited about the world cup would be a WAY understatement. I am jazzed about it. I was talking with my buddy Gavin about it the other day. He doesn't believe the US has a shot. Many don't. I have a couple buddies who grew up in Argentina and they used to talk all kinds of trash about American soccer. I hope they tune in this month. It shall be a wild ride....
